   How does ReviewGist work?

Thinking of buying a notebook? What if your choice doesn't have a good battery life and you need to travel, or the graphic card underperforms and you need to game, or you need to rough it out and the thing is too fragile?

Chances are that you will have to read innumerable reviews online before you settle on your final choice. And if reading reviews for a single product wasn't time consuming enough, try collating and comparing review information across different products.

This is where ReviewGist comes in: We read the reviews so that you don't have to.

We give you the ReviewGist - the big picture with the small details: everything that's good and everything that's bad, we tell you which notebook has the stunning looks and the one which is a battery hog. We give you crisp aggregated information from different reviews - digested by our computers and served for you to sample.

How do we do it?

ReviewGist gathers review information for different products from almost all trusted online review sites. Our patent pending deep semantic analysis engine then takes over and extracts out the subjective opinion from these collected reviews. Essentially, we figure out the specific opinions expressed by the reviewer about the product in question.

So for example, incase a reviewer has expressed an opinion like "the camera takes good pictures" we are able to figure out that the reviewer has expressed a positive opinion about picture capabilities of the camera in question. These extracted opinions from numerous expert review sources are then combined together to present you the unified gist.

Furthermore, we combine all of these opinions together to give you overall and feature specific ratings for the product.

How authoritative are ReviewGist' ratings?

Our market research has shown that ratings online can vary widely across different sources. This disparity could be accounted either to a personal bias on the part of the reviewer, or to varied perceived importance of features by different reviewers. For example one source rated a compact point-and-shoot camera highly because it was light enough to carry, whereas another rated it poorly because the pictures were just average.

ReviewGist' ratings are highly authoritative - fundamentally because our ratings are not based on one person's perspectives but rather on the combined wisdom of all reviewers. Our ratings automatically diminish reviewers' personal and feature-specific biases to give you the real picture. It is as if we consolidate all the reviews to give you the most authoritative unbiased ratings.
